There are so many reasons to grow even a small amount of food; it’s so good for mental and physical health, you get out in the fresh air and best of all you will be astonished at the flavour of the results!
Along with our 2 project partners The Conservation Volunteers and Belfast Food Network we will be distributing 550 Food for Thought resource packs. These packs will have everything you need depending on the space you have available and will include seeds suitable for growing at this time, compost, pots and gloves, with an apple tree for those who have lots of room. We want applications from community groups, families and individuals of all ages from across Northern Ireland.
The project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and a series of expert webinars, toolkits and how to videos are planned, to show you some really simple ways to use the produce you grow - because when food is that fresh and tasty you don’t need to complicate things!
As a positive response to Covid-19, we want to create a whole community of growers and eaters who support each other in a truly sustainable way. We want to see your pics and hear about your adventures along the way so keep us updated by using the hashtag #FoodForThought or email Jilly on firstname.lastname@example.org
